3 Steps to Manifest Your Dreams: The Law of Attraction

Creating a life that feels good is something we all want, but the day-to-day of how to do it can get a bit fuzzy at times.

If you are like us, at times you may have found yourself enviously wondering why other people get all the good things in life. We have to acknowledge that we are all born into different places and positions in life, which does play a role in how we are able to move through the world and what we are able to create, but we also believe that we are all able to manifest more positive experiences if we choose to focus on that which is positive.

"You do not have a right to the cards you believe you should have been dealt.
You have an obligation to play the hell out of the ones you are holding."
(Cheryl Strayed)

Cheryl Strayed quote Maybe you’ve watched the popular movie “The Secret,” or stumbled upon one of so many inspirational self help books preaching on “manifesting the life you desire,” but what does that really mean? And how do we do it?

We will show you some tips to get the most out of your life, but first, let’s start with the basics...

What is the law of attraction?

The law of attraction is considered a “universal law,” which controls how we create the things in our lives.

It implies that we have more control over our circumstances than we may have previously believed.

The law of attraction is the belief that we can choose whether we think positive or negative thoughts, and based upon our choice we have positive or negative experiences in life.

This suggests that we can create our experiences of this life by controlling the thoughts we have.

The two guiding principles are that everything is energy and like energy attracts like energy.

Since both our thoughts and our experiences are energy, if we choose positive thoughts, we can have positive experiences.

According to Abraham Hicks, “Every time you praise something, every time you appreciate something, every time you feel good about something, you are telling the Universe, "More of this, Please."

But what does that mean for us and how can we use it?

Meditation outdoors

By allowing ourselves to feel what a new way of being would feel like we break negative thought and emotional patterns that tell us that all we can have is what we have had in the past.

For example, if we want to be more carefree and experience less stress, we may want to visualize what that looks like and allow ourselves to emotionally experience what it is we would feel in that moment.

A simple practice for this would be to take a few minutes to visualize dancing around in the woods, feeling sunshine on our face, and imagining what it feels like to feel light and happy.

Doing so will allow us to realize that we can actually feel those things right now if we choose to, in turn meaning that we can have more of what we want.

If we choose to live in this way, we will begin to make choices that affirm that desire and attract more people and experiences with similar energetic goals into our lives.

Law of attraction

This is how the law of attraction works.

It is not just sitting around and visualizing and speaking positive affirmations all day long. It is also the actions that are born of those practices.

It is choosing to think in a certain way and then aligning your lifestyle with those thought patterns.

In other words, it is realizing that we are capable of saying “yes” and “no” to most things in life, and when we realize the power of our choices, we regain our power to create the beautiful lives that we desire.

This is a lifestyle.

Mindful outdoor yoga

Manifesting doesn’t happen with quick fixes or one time practices. In order to find the big shifts in our lives that we desire, we must embed our lives with habits that encourage positive mindsets and show up faithfully for these practices which help reprogram our minds to look for the good in life.

We must be willing to live in the present moment as often as possible so that we can experience more peace and joy. When we experience peace we usually realize we want more and more of that which results in us seeking out this present moment living as much as possible.

Ways to practice being in the present moment are yoga, meditation, walking in nature, and anything that slows us down enough that we can notice what is happening right here and right now.

3 Practices to Manifest the Life You Desire

1. Morning Visualizations

Before you even get out of bed in the morning, spend a few minutes visualizing yourself going through your day in a positive, empowered, and content way, allowing yourself to feel how you wish to feel, be surrounded by the people you want to be surrounded by, and accomplish what you wish to accomplish.

2. Goal setting

Set aside a time each day to spend a few minutes writing down a few goals that you would like to accomplish that day.

Under each goal, write down a few action steps you can take to align yourself with the positive outcome you would like to find.

Reflect on your list throughout the day to keep your thoughts and actions focused on the goals you are manifesting.

3. Share positivity

Putting positive energy out into the universe reminds the universe that you are open to receiving positive energy.

Speak kind words to a family member, call a friend who is feeling down, or buy lunch for a coworker.

Sharing positivity also brings joy and reminds you of the things you desire in your life.

If something raises your vibration to a place of joy and peace, seek to do as much of that as possible.

As with most things in life, this lifestyle takes time.

By starting small with the tips above, as well as seeking out more present moment living, you will already begin to attract more of what you want.

Don’t expect a total life shift into constant positive thinking to happen over night. You are still a human who will sometimes forget about your goals.

When this happens, don’t beat yourself up. Give yourself grace and gently point yourself back in the direction you want to go.
